In 1970, the crew aboard Apollo 13, four-fifths of the way to the moon, told Mission Control: "We've got a problem here." A tank containing liquid oxygen had burst, crippling the spacecraft. The story ended happily four days later when the crew splashed down safely in the Pacific.
